Description:

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is a tenant-based rental assistance program which provides rental assistance in the form of a monthly subsidy for eligible low-income families.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is a tenant-based rental assistance program which provides rental assistance in the form of a monthly subsidy for eligible low-income families. For more information about the HCV program, visit www.hud.gov.

Interested persons may submit an application when the wait list is open; eligible applications will be placed in a lottery pool. Only one application per applicant/social security number will be accepted. All duplicate applications will be discarded. Two thousand (2,000) applications (total) will be chosen from the lottery pool by a random, electronic lottery system for placement on the HCV wait list. The remainder of the applications will be discarded. Letters will be sent to all who submit an application within 60 days of the closing of the wait list as to the status of their application. If any letter is sent to a wait list applicant but is returned in the mail, the application will not be accepted for placement on the wait list.

Since applications are selected by a lottery system, there is no advantage or disadvantage to applying on either the first day or last day that the wait list is open. After an application has been submitted, it is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the Shasta County Housing Authority to update their mailing address if it changes.

The Shasta County Housing Authority will accept applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program wait list Monday, April 15, 2019 through Friday, May 31, 2019.

IN-PERSON APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY AT THE LOCATION AND TIME LISTED BELOW. (No applications will be accepted on the weekends).

Persons unable to apply in person at the above locations may call 530-225-5160, or California Relay Service at 800-735-2922, no earlier than 8 am Monday April 15, 2019, and request an application be mailed to them. All applications must be received in person at the above date, time, and locations or by mail to Shasta County Housing Authority, 1450 Court Street, Suite 108, Redding, CA 96001 posted marked no later than May 31, 2019.

The wait list will be closed at 4pm on Friday May 31, 2019. The Housing Authority is not responsible for applications that are illegible or missing information. Applications will not be provided or accepted by fax or email.
